Shannon Muenchow is a young fiddle player who was brought up in the Irish music and dance community in Boulder, Colorado. Her parents brought her to sessions at the same time she began to play fiddle and irish step dance. She danced competitively with the Wick school of Irish dance, often playing fiddle at the dance performances. In high school, Shannon was fortunate enough to compete in the World Championships for Irish Dance in London. After Worlds, Shannon decided to devote more time to her music. In preparation for the All Ireland fleadh in 2013 Shannon enjoyed lessons with one of her trad music idols, James Kelly.
Her growing love of the music experience encouraged her to travel in a van playing music along the west coast for a few months with some friends at the beginning of 2020. While on this trip, she and her friends accompanied John Whelan on his Monday’s With John Facebook live program. When she is not working as a water resources engineer, Shannon plays regular gigs and house concerts around Colorado with her bandmate Graeme Danforth in their band Bangers and Blunders.
She is grateful for her parents for bringing her into the Irish music scene at a young age, and to everyone in the music community who continues to encourage her and present opportunities which allow her to keep growing as a musician.
