
Michelle Mulcahy is one of Ireland’s most talented and gifted multi-instrumentalists. Her array of instrumental mastery spans the concertina, accordion, harp, fiddle, piano and melodeon. Michelle is considered to be one of Ireland’s most adroit and creative harpers and ‘her music conveys a deep knowledge of the pulse of traditional Irish music.’ Her revolutionary style on the harp is scintillating: reels and jigs played with power and panache, no concession to the complexity of the instrument, confirming her as one of most significant musicians redefining harp ‘-The Living Tradition.
She is a regular performer and tutor at many festivals worldwide. She features on three highly acclaimed albums recorded by Shanachie and Clo-Iar Chonnachta with her father, Mick and sister Louise, their latest album ‘Reelin’ in Tradition’ has been voted one of the top traditional music albums. Michelle was awarded the prestigious TG4 Young musician of the year in 2006 and was also awarded Female musician of the year in 2005 in the Live Ireland.com awards by Bill Margeson in the United States. She has recently recorded with Bill Whelan and the Irish Chamber Orcehstra on his highly acclaimed Connemara suite album which was released this year.
