
Lexia Kennedy of Lemont, IL is currently a 14-year-old freshman at Lemont High School and fiddle student of Kell, Mike and Rory Chole of The Murphy Roche School of Irish Music since the young age of 4. Lexia has been a Midwest Region qualifier and has competed at the Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann (All Ireland) in Ireland every year since the age of 8. A 2018 World Champion in U15 Fiddle Solo and 2015 U12 Fiddle Airs, Lexia gets great joy from listening to as well playing traditional Irish music.
Her playing has been greatly influenced by some of the world’s greatest fiddlers: Liz Carroll, Maurice Lennon, Sean Montgomery, MacDara O’Raghallaigh, Oisin Mac Diarmada, Martin Hayes and others. Lexia leads a beginner’s session for newer sessioners at Clancy’s in Oak Lawn, IL every Wednesday night from 7-8:30 pm. Lexia joins many of Chicago’s finest Irish musicians in weekly sessions around Chicago. If you come to Chicago, be sure to contact her to join you at one of the many area sessions.
