Jeremy Welch has been singing his entire life, and has become an avid collector of songs from many musical traditions: Irish, Scottish, Maritimes, Americana, Bluegrass, and Cowboy, to name a few. A multi-instrumentalist and self-proclaimed “accompanerd,” he delights in exploring the intricate relationship between melody and accompaniment on bouzouki, guitar, bodhrán, and a variety of other instruments. His passion for keeping these musical traditions alive is evident whether he’s on a stage or in a session.
In addition to his love of song, Jeremy discovered a passion for Irish dance as an adult dancer with the Shandon O’Regan Irish Dance Academy. He was drawn to the energy and fellowship of ceili, set, and other traditional group dances, where community and rhythm meet in motion. As part of the Academy, he has been a member of teams that have medaled several times at the Southern Region Oireachtas. Today, he shares his enthusiasm for social dance as a ceili caller alongside his wife, Lisha Willeng, leading dancers through lively, laughter-filled nights of Irish music and movement.
