Eamon McElholm was born and raised in County Tyrone in the North of Ireland. He was brought up playing all types of music from Irish traditional to rock and classical, so when it came to writing his own material he had plenty of influences in the melting pot.
Eamon joined the highly successful American Irish group Solas in 2002 and went on to record seven albums with the band. The band toured extensively all over the world, bringing their music to places as far away as Japan and Russia. Prior to joining Solas, Eamon worked with Irish band Stockton’s Wing as singer, songwriter and guitarist. He has also enjoyed working with many others in the folk and traditional world.
A recipient of the John Lennon songwriting award, he has written numerous songs and tunes which have been recorded by a number of Irish groups and instrumentalists. He plays guitar, piano, and cello and frequently appears on other artists’ albums.
