Danny Diamond is a fiddle player based in Dublin, Ireland known for incorporating wider influences from Nordic and American folk to baroque music to experimental pop rooted in the rich heritage of Irish traditional music. Danny plays with the contemporary Nordic/Irish band Slow Moving Clouds and the Irish traditional band Mórga. His 2014 debut solo album, “Fiddle Music,” was widely acclaimed as one of the top Irish traditional releases of the year.

Slow Moving Clouds’ debut album “Os” (released October 2015), mixes traditional and original music, ranging from lush string soundscapes through manic angular dance tunes to stately Finnish-language songs.

In addition to his work with Slow Moving Clouds, Danny is one of the founder-members of Mórga, a band which grew out of the vibrant traditional music scene in mid-2000s Galway. Mórga has been universally acclaimed for rekindling the energy of the seminal Irish recordings of the 1920s. With Mórga, Danny has gigged extensively around Ireland, Europe and the USA and released two albums, Mórga (2009) and For the Sake of Auld Decency (2013).

His solo project, Fiddle Music, combines Irish traditional music and new compositions and influences from Nordic and American folk music, all set to unique drone-based accompaniment. Fiddle Music takes the listener on a journey from deep in the Irish tradition into a unique contemporary sound-world.

Testimonials

Former Student

Well worth the travel time and money spent - I learned more about why Irish music sounds the way it does in three days than I ever knew before. Now I have a 'gold standard' to use as I develop my own performing skills with that style of music.
