Colm Delaney was born and raised in East Clare. From an early age he began playing traditional music and received instruction from several influential teachers, most notably Timmy Collins and Noel Hill. At age 17, he was invited to Festival Interceltique Lorient to perform as a virtuoso musician. Since then Colm has taught and performed with groups in France, Italy, Czech Republic and Denmark. Colm regularly performs with traditional super-group ‘Slide’. Through ten extensive American tours, he has performed critically acclaimed headline shows at Kansas City Irish Fest, Michigan Irish Music Festival, Wheatland Bluegrass Festival, Pittsburgh Irish Festival and Celtic Fest Chicago, to name a few. Playing regularly on Canadian, French and U.S. television and tutoring all over the world has enabled Colm to achieve recognition from many luminaries and contemporaries in the traditional and folk genres. Recently, Colm has performed and toured with the highly acclaimed ‘Guidewires,’ sharing the stage with musical heroes such as Sylvain Barou and Gilles Le Bigot. In 2012, Colm will release his first solo CD, heralding a temporary departure from group recording projects. For additional information, see colmdelaneymusic.com.
