As part of your participation at the O’Flaherty Retreat, we ask you to do one of the following activities. These activities are designed to enable students, besides those enrolled in your core classes, to learn or become familiar with you.

Enrichment Class/Workshop
The best way to understand the difference between an Enrichment Class and Workshop is to see what others have done previously. See ENRICHMENT CLASSES or see WORKSHOPS. Simply, Enrichment Classes teach Irish music history, heritage, culture, etc. Workshops teach Irish music skills, methods, applications, etc. Either activity is a one-hour presentation that you will give on a topic that may be of interest to all of our students. We prefer that these classes not be instrument specific if possible so that anyone can attend and benefit. If you like, give us a general topic and idea of what your class will cover, and we will be happy to write the description for you. Of course, we will send it to you before we publish it so you can change it to your liking. Here is a FORM you can use to submit a topic and description. By the way, we have a variety of audio visual equipment to assist your in your presentation.

Informance
If you choose to do an “informance” at the retreat, it is a one-hour performance/workshop regarding your music. This would be a great time to talk about who influenced your playing/learning, discuss your style of playing, demonstrate the intricacies of your instrument, singing or dancing, etc. Again, our hope is that other students besides those enrolled in your core classes might like to hear you play/sing/talk about Irish music and your journey.
