The Fleadh Market is a way to conveniently connect owners of instruments with potential buyers and a venue for the buyers to inspect the items being offered. The Market is open to all O’Flaherty Irish Music Retreat (OIMR) students and staff and will be held in the patio area outside of the dining hall on Saturday, October 21st during the lunch period. It will be adjacent to the Instrument Petting Zoo which permits participants to try various Irish folk instruments. The Market is not open to sellers who are professional retailers of music-related items.
Shoppers – Come to the Market, where you can inspect and try out the instruments being sold, connect with the seller, get your friend’s advice on an item, and, if you just have to have it, arrange the purchase with the seller.
Acceptable Items for Sale – Acoustic or electric instruments commonly used in Irish traditional music.
Sellers – Used instruments can be checked in to the Market by completing a form, by which the owner of the instrument(s) agrees to the conditions of the Market, provides a brief description of the instrument(s) being offered and a way for potential buyers to contact the owner. OIMR does not in any way participate in the sale (sales are between owner and buyer) and does not collect any fee for any sale. OIMR provides a host(s) to log the instruments and receive the signed forms from the owner and a location but does not assume any responsibility for the care of the instruments during the Market. We expect all participants to exercise care in handling the instruments, and owners are welcome to stay in the Market to oversee their treatment.
