Concertina Survey

We are considering dividing up the concertina class to increase learning based on the levels of the students. There are several ways we could go, so we’d appreciate your input. Thanks!

If a concertina fundamentals class were offered, I would:*
- Enroll in it because it’s difficult to keep up with other students in the regular class.
- Probably choose to remain in the regular class because I would prefer to be in class with more skilled students.
- Consider it, but a decision would depend on who’s teaching it.
- Enroll in the regular class because I am at an intermediate or advanced level.
On average, what percentage of the concertina classes you attended do you believe would have been better served by a fundamentals class?*
- 0-25%
- 25-50%
- 50-75%
- 75-100%
Alternatively, if the retreat offered an advanced concertina class and a regular class for both beginners and intermediate level students, I would:*
- Enroll in it and accept requirements such as submitting a video auditions for my placement in the advanced class.
- Prefer there would be only a fundamentals class and regular class offered, and no advanced class.
- Prefer things remain the same — only a regular class offering with all levels together.
- Not have any preference.
If I were to predict my skill level on concertina by the 2020 retreat, it would be:*
Beginner = still learning fingering, bellows management, limited number of tunes from memory. Intermediate = know fingering, basic ornamentation, 50 or more tunes memorized and well played. Advanced = uses variety of ornamentation, easily learns by ear, capable of playing tunes at appropriate tempos.
